  SPLENDOUR
By Abi Morgan

Directed by Rachel West
A RAW production in association with Project Arts Centre.
Irish Premiere 24th May 2007

RAW continues its collaboration with Project Arts Centre presenting a prize-winning cast in the Irish premiere of Abi Morgan’s highly acclaimed piece.
Splendour is a piece which brilliantly explores both the cruel veneer of our lives and the beating heart within, examining the often simultaneously bland and vicious way in which women can communicate with each other and with the world.
Set as a totalitarian regime is about to collapse, Splendour unfolds inside a state residence on the edge of an Eastern European city. Four women wait for a man to arrive; his wife, her friend and two strangers – a western photo journalist and her interpreter. As they wait they talk - Toy Story 2, Prada handbags and Chilli Vodka – whilst undercurrents of a political, personal and professional nature begin to bubble to the surface. In the distance, the revolution gathers force and inside, closer to home, treason becomes apparent.
