PHAEDRA after Racine By Frank McGuinness Directed by Rachel West Irish Premiere 4 March 2007 Trinity College Dublin, School of Drama and Film Studies presents the final year acting students in the Irish premiere of Frank McGuinness’s version of PHAEDRA, after Racine, directed by Rachel West. CAST: Kelly Gough, Maud Hendricks, Dearbhla McGuinness, Rob Mc Dermott, Jenn Murray, Barry O’Connor, Bernie O’Reilly, Michael Winder PRODUCTION DESIGNERS: Andrew Lennon, Anna Cunningham, Sinead Cuthbert, Michael Canney, Denis Clohessy, Chelsea Hoffman COMPANY Rebecca Frere, Francis Thackaberry, Jessica Cunningham REVIEWS: “ The empathy of the cast for their roles is complete and rewarding, and the spare and imaginative set design by Anna Cunningham and Andrew Lennon provides and effective area for their work. Rachel West’s direction marries all the talents under her control unto seamless unity.” - Irish Times “ With its high drama, the demands on the cast are obvious. Yet theses able students more than prove their worth, as impressive an any professional outfit.” - Metro Back to Top Tisch School of the Performing Arts NYU, New York Back to Top Drama League of Ireland Summer School Courses 2007, University of Limerick Contemporary European writers with Rachel West For Actors with some Experience and Directors who are prepared to act. How does theatre reflect the way we live today? Who are the new playwrights that tackle the issues of modern Europe? Just as Sean Oí Casey, John B. Keane and Harold Pinter posed questions on social issues modern European writers do the same. Using texts from contemporary European writers Rachel West will reveal the answers to questions presented in modern work that engages and excites modern audiences. The students will explore political, social and global issues in plays and how to perform and interpret these issues to a 21st century audience in an electrifying and moving fashion. BACK to TOP |
